Close Beside
02:38
|
|||
What do you see in me
My eyes are closed and I'm afraid
To expose the light inside
My heart is growing cold, but I think I'm gonna be okay
Because I know that I can't hide
I can't keep you from this heart of mine
And I know no matter where I go
You will be close beside
Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found
Was blind but now I see
And now I know that I can't hide
I can't keep you from this heart of mine
And I know no matter where I go
You will be close beside

Why Do We Try
03:09
|
|||
There's a mother and a daughter in a house without a father
And she's trying hard to make ends meet
She's looking for a job but she hasn't got an offer
So there’s a chance next month she'll be out on the street
Her daddy calls her up, says "Honey, how ya doin?"
She says, "Everything's fine"
She hangs up the phone, and looks at her baby
Then goes in the bathroom to cry
Why do we try to be so strong?
Don't you know that nobody can do it alone?
We all need somebody to help carry the load
We all need some help from above - yeah
We all need some help from above
There's a house down on the corner and the old man who's the owner
Has lived there for most of his life
He built the place himself and you know he'd like to keep it
But it's lonely since he lost his wife
He's reading through a letter from his daughter who's a lawyer
She says, "Dad we got a place you can stay"
He knows that she means it and he'd like to take her offer
But he doesn't want to get in the way
(chorus twice)

Sweet Genevieve
03:17
|
|||
Genevieve of the sweet hazel eyes
Reflection of you through family ties
Sure have missed your beautiful smile
So won’t you sit and talk for awhile
Tell me everywhere you’ve been
And all about your newfound friends
It’s good to see you finally traveling
And, Lord, it’s good to see you again
Did you finally get to see
Stars shining on the Irish sea
Do you waltz among the stars
And do you think of me where you are
Genevieve of the sad sweet eyes
Heaven gained another angel the day you died
I sure have missed your beautiful smile
So won’t you sit with me for awhile
Won’t you do me a favor sweet Genevieve
And say hello to our family tree
I’d love to reminisce about our kin
And, Lord, it’s good to see you again
When you’re drifting on the sea
Please say a little prayer for me
And our family
Did you finally get to see
Stars shining on the Irish sea
Do you waltz among the stars
And do you think of me
When you’re drifting on the sea
Please say a little prayer for me
And our family
Oh, sweet Genevieve

You and I
04:47
|
|||
You and I are like shy and wild
Like hot and mild, mature and child
And you and I are the best thing that’s ever happened
You and I are like void and valid
Like beat and ballad, like soup and salad
And you and I are the best thing that’s ever happened
You are the sunrise and I am the sunset
We’re hours apart but we both share the same path
We’re after the same things and we’re both on the right track
But it’s hard to see when there’s holes in the road map
‘Cause I’m kinda quirky and you’re a bit high-strung
I question your motives, you question my actions
I live in the moment, you live for the long run
But we’re both devoted and we’re singing the same song baby
You and I are like rain and desert
Like pain and pleasure, like waste and treasure
And you and I are the best thing that’s ever happened
You and I are like friends and strangers
Like safe and danger, achievements and failures
And you and I are the best thing that’s ever happened
(chorus)
And you and I are the best thing that’s ever happened
You and I my love are the best thing that’s ever happened
And you and I my love are the best
(chorus)
And you and I are the best thing that’s ever happened
And you and I are the best thing that’s ever happened

Hindsight
04:05
|
|||
In hindsight I look back on the words I said and I’m left with much regret
In hindsight I look back on the words I said and I’m left with much regret
In hindsight I look back on the words I said
In hindsight I look back on the words I said and I’m left with much regret
I am not a rich man, I have gone without
But still I fall so short of the glory, the glory of God
Cut me down to size, cut me down to size
‘Cause I don’t recognize who I’ve become
Cut me down to size, cut me down to size
I want to make it through the needle’s eye
In my heart I know I’m part of your plan that transcends comprehension
In my heart I know I’m part of your plan that transcends comprehension
In my heart I know I’m part of your plan
In my heart I know I’m part of your plan that transcends comprehension
I am not a rich man, I have gone without
But still I fall so short of the glory, the glory of God
I have been forgiven, I have seen the light
But still I fall so short of the glory, the glory of God
In hindsight I look back on the words I said
In hindsight I look back on the words I said
In hindsight I look back on the words I said

Wednesday Weekend Newberg, Oregon
Setting its current line-up in 2013, Wednesday Weekend is a Portland-area, piano-pop band. Joel Theophanes heard David Fortmeyer's songs and decided they were too good not to be heard. There was no other choice than to start a band. They found Shannon Eoff (drums) via Craigslist and she introduced Lonna Bowe to the group as an additional vocalist. WW plays live at a variety of venues and events. ... more
